CHICAGO (AP) — Republican Mark Kirk has won a chance to try to take President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat away from Democrats. GOP voters nominated the five-term congressman Tuesday. The cash strapped state of Illinois sees a way of generating some Federal bucks by selling their mostly empty Thompson Correctional Center state prison to Uncle Sam.
