Don’t be fooled by Speaker Pelosi lamenting over the lack of a ‘Public Option’ in the current Health Care Reform Bill.
The Democrats so opposed to the Public Option will get their way. The Democrats supporting the Public Option will get their way. Obama, will still get his way. Why would I make that statement? For quite some time, I have held the belief, the Democrats were so divided on the matter, they would never pass reform based on such internal infighting. I was wrong.
The ‘Public Option’ will be added after this bill is passed ‘trojan horse’ style, done in a way to reassure all Democrats to save face. This will give the Democrats a clear conscience vote when all the sticking points like public funded Abortions, and the Public Option are removed. The house will pass a watered down version, and then re-insert Abortion funding and the Public Option later.
When Obama met with the hold outs from the Progressive Caucus, Rep. Raul Grijalva explained Obama’s game plan in this ‘Kiss and Tell’ statement about the meeting.
“He (Obama) said the public option — a well-known and long-standing progressive priority — lacks enough Senate support to be included in the final package. However, he personally committed to pursue a public option after passage of the current bill.” Rep. Raul Grijalva
Rep. Grijalva later sang like a bird for democracynow.org over other matters discussed during the Congressional Progressive Caucus meeting with Obama.
Once again, the Democrats must be very eager to vote themselves out of office this November. The Republicans must be thinking, who needs to make a ‘Contract with America‘ when you have ‘Obamacare’.
