One of the more impressive specialty re-issue music companies is Strut Records. In the post internet era, labels like Strut have taken on the role of ‘music historian’, to document musical eras that were overlooked either due to isolation, or it’s own obscurity.
Previously, Strut have issued two compilations in their ‘Nigeria 70’ compilations series, detailing early 70′s Nigerian Afro-Funk, Highlife, and Juju music genres. The latest installment in the impressive series has just been released, ‘Sweet Times: Afro Funk, Highlife & Juju from 1970s Lagos’.
