(Late) Music Friday: Easybeats ‘St. Louis’

From time to time, I like to post some music on Fridays, however circumstances yesterday prevented me from posting this item.  With the recent trip from Obama to John Cronin’s (Solid Principles co-founder) home town, plus interviewing Ed Martin had me think of this track.

The Easybeats were Australia’s most successful ‘rock music’ export during the 60′s, I added ‘rock’ to that statement as The Seekers did sell far more records (even able to attract a tenth of Melbourne’s then population to their concerts).  While mostly remembered for their hit Friday on my Mind, the bulk of their Australia only released material unfairly missed the boat internationally.  In the post Easybeats world, ex-members Vanda & Young become renown songwriters/producers that helped shape future Australian exports, AC/DC most significantly amongst others.

Thanks to Pete’s Power Pop Blog, for the track and image.
