Tea Party members have used “racial epithets,” have verbally abused black members of Congress and threatened them, and protestors have engaged in “explicitly racist behavior” and “displayed signs and posters intended to degrade people of color generally and President Barack Obama specifically,” according to the proposed resolution.
“We’re deeply concerned about elements that are trying to move the country back, trying to reverse progress that we’ve made,” NAACP spokeswoman Leila McDowell told ABC News. “We are asking that the law-abiding members of the Tea Party repudiate those racist elements, that they recognize the historic and present racist elements that are within the Tea Party movement.”
[Editor's Commentary: I have not joined any Tea Party organization, but I am very supportive of their agenda to follow the Constitution, scale back the size and reach of the federal government, cut taxes and provide for a strong military defense of this country.
I attended the first St. Louis Tea Party Rally on April 15, 2009 and reported on it for our SolidPrinciples.com Podcast. There were over 8,000 participants at the rally and I can PERSONALLY ATTEST to the fact that there were no racial epithets or racially demeaning posters used. There were African/American conservatives there, contrary to what the MSM would have you believe and although the attendees were in large part middle-aged and beyond, there were also teens and 20-somethings in the crowd as well.
When I came across this piece from ABC News, I just had to post a rebuttal. That is the great strength of the Citizen’s New Media. We no longer have to sit idly by while these elitists broadcast their propaganda. Now we have a voice.

The Tea Bag Party are just “haters not debaters” or as others have dubbed them “screamers not dreamers”, with their failed attempts at stopping Healthcare reform, they say they respect the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence but they do not mind passing laws, through weak Governors (no one voted for this crazy) who only cares about getting elected Governor, on the backs of undocumented workers, that will not pass Constitution muster.
Brewer signed into law;
1. S.B. 1070,
2. No permit conceal weapons law,
3. The famous Birthers law,
4. Banning Ethnic studies law,
5. Could she be behind the Mural in Prescott, Arizona, ordered to be whiten,
6. On deck to pass, no citizenship to babies born to undocumented workers,
7. If she can read she should look up Arizona’s House Bill 2779 from two years ago (which was un-constitution and failed when legally challenged),
8. The boycotted Martin Luther King Day, what idiots don’t want another holiday? Yes, you guessed it Arizona.
Well Arizona, you can boycott new holidays and keep passing crazy laws and the rest of us will continue to challenged them in a court of law and continue to add cities to our Boycott of your state.
I real cannot believe anything that comes out of Brewer’s mouth, in an interview she first said her father had died in Germany fighting the Nazi in World War II (war ended 1945) but of course we find out the truth that father was never in Germany and died in California in 1955. But we are suppose to believe everything else she says, right! No one voted for you for Governor, yet you keep listening to the tiny brains of the crazies and signing into law everything that comes into their feeble minds, it only make you look dumb, stupid or racist, or maybe all three.
As for the Tea Bag Party, their phony patriotism is sickening; they are just racists going by another name. We all know you are just itching to put a sheet on their head? Let’s face it the Republicans had eight years to deal with health care, immigration, energy (remember Cheney’s secret meetings with oil companies where loosening regulation and oversight were sealed), climate change and financial oversight and governance and they failed. It appears that the Republican Party is only good at starting wars (two in eight years, with fat contracts to friends of Cheney/Bush) but not at winning wars as seen by the continuing line of body bags that keep coming home. The Republicans party will continue turned inward to their old fashion obstructionist party (and their Confederacy appreciation roots) because they continue to allow a small portions (but very loud portion) of their party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” to rule their party. I will admit that this fringe is very good at playing “Follow the Leader” by listening to their dullard leaders, Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush, Savage, Sarah Bailin, Orly Taitz, Victoria Jackson, Michele Bachmann and the rest of the Blowhards and acting as ill programmed robots (they have already acted against doctors that perform abortions). Yee Haw!
……”with their failed attempts at stopping Healthcare reform,”…….
There is a big event coming up in November, what Sean Hannity has dubbed “the ultimate Tea Party.” If we are successful in throwing members of the corrupt and incompetent Democrat Party into the streets, (and every poll confirms this is very likely to happen) conservatives will attempt to repeal the monstrous Obamacare or to defund it.
Then we can start the whole process over, this time with some adult supervision.
I consider myself a tea-party member even though I have not joined any formal group. I believe in the principles of smaller less intrusive government, lower taxes, less spending on things people should pay for themselves. I am a first-generation American of Mexican origin. Both my parents are from the state of Jalisco in Mexico; but my father came here legally and served in the U.S. Army before starting a family. I thank God every day I was born here. I served 9 years in the U.S. Air Force; I saw this as an obligation I owed this wonderful country. Am I a racist? No, NAACP get your act together and do something more constructive to advance America for all of us of color and not. God Bless The United States.
Single mom,
Well said. You and your family represent what is best about America. Your father played by the rules and that is all we ask.
Thanks for weighing in with your comments and don’t be a stranger to the site!
I wish the the NAACP would just admit they’ve become a liberal weapon, instead of the organization it was before when it was involved in the civil rights movements. Playing the race card, especially when there is no substantial evidence to support your claim, immediately tells everyone that you have no argument whatsoever against the supposedly “racist” entity, in this case the Tea Party.
The Tea Party represents the values and work ethic that built our country. Are Tea-Partiers perfect? No, but neither is the liberal majority in government, or the Republican minority for that matter. They are just people who want to be in charge of their own lives, to make their own decisions, without the interference of government and the micro-managing of obtrusive laws. Why are some so inclined to blindly trust what government puts into law? Why would anyone want all those government programs? Nothing feels better than earning your keep from hard work, integrity and ethics. Tea Party, is in fact, probably the most color-blind organization I have ever seen. I noticed a fellow writer mentioned Beck, Hannity, et al. Read and research for yourself. You will come to similar conclusions. Step outside of yourself and read, read, read. I was once a far-left democrat!!!! Imagine that???
I should say that I am a very proud BLACK American….and I have major grievances with this Presidential administration. Although I agree with most that while the election of a ‘person of color’ is a major accomplishment for our country, I’m concerned that his hard task master way of government has really created a hightened sense of racial tension that I don’t recall in my lifetime since the early 50′s-60′s. I have serious issues with his logic on a government controlled society…policing the food I eat, the way I spend my money, and punishing me and my family for not being poor or on welfare, by making my tax dollars pay for other peoples mistakes angers and saddens me all at once. I beleive our ability to choose is what makes this country an amazing land for all people, regardless of race. Why should we be punished for having strict guidelines on immigration? Without them, anyone from any country can come here and I will end up supporting their children financially…I have issues with that. I have issues with the way this administrations platform of ‘change’ was really misleading to several young americans…the change was to create a subset of clones that would follow charisma blindly and not dig a little deeper to find out about fact and motives and intent. I heard the leader of the Tea Party speak once on the View..she was NOT a racist. Her beliefs in her country were the same as mine…she wants for her children what I want for mine, an opportunity..granted there may be some racially charged participants at a tea party gathering…but ignorance exists on all fronts. I think the NAACP should really focus on supporting the poorer urban areas of NJ and Ohio…do what they were created to do, and realize that their voice is equally volatle as it is powerful. I dont’ think our ideals are so diferent…our beliefs in our nation and our families and our neighbors unites us and makes us alike. Our disappointment in the way this new governement wan’ts to govern us like they are a monarchy…that is a problem that is NOT a black thing or a white thing…thats an OBAMA thing.
Bless you all.
American…period,
Well said, I am in complete agreement with your comments. Obama just doesn’t get it that our issues with him don’t have anything to do with his race, but have everything to do with his politics and his economic theories.
We all work too hard and love this country too much to see it swirl down the drain because of his discredited, radical ideas about the way the world works.
